ESCALATOR HATERS
s/t LP
Wanda Records

Salute the New Wave of the New Wave of the New Wave with me for another fizzy flurry of JACK & THE RIPPERS Snot Pop adventures ringing at your front door backpacked with a double dosed pint of BUZZCOCKS sherbert crackers.
Comin´ from the land of milk and tax dodging these three chord and a half veterans are buffing up their punky crew cuts with a gloopy domestic handful of  NEGATIV “Glitter Hair Cream” and just the right amount of Howard Devoto veneration grumpily snarling in his Top Of The Pops lead pencil looking microphone.

Top Of The Snots: PENNYCOCKS – Fake Gold & Broken Teeth LP

PENNYCOCKS
Fake Gold & Broken Teeth LP
Contra Records

Back in 1977 SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS frantically raised the question “Where Have All The Bootboys Gone”, thirty-nine years and many worry lines later they finally receive the proper answer to satisfy their elementary needs by the PENNYCOCKS from Barcelona. Here they are, Latin Lover Bootboys from Catalonia cracking up bubble gum automats for their dear concubines and skipping out on a tab instead of beating up their opponents with handmade Millwall Bricks, allover handsome fellas going out for a Marlon Brando memorial spin through town on their rusty mopeds with the gold dust sound of music from the Fifties to the Seventies ringing in their ears.

Top Of The Snots: THE NOT AMUSED – Flat Broke MLP

THE NOT AMUSED
Flat Broke MLP
Wanda Records

Put up or shut up, it´s no secret that I simply fell in love with the THE NOT AMUSED both on a personal and on a musical basis since having heard their “Flaunting Their Talents” 12inch back in 2007 and luckily being able to organize some gigs with them back in my tiny booking activity days. But seriously folks, even from an objective perspective, how could one not love them ?
Not only do they have the perfect musical suss belting out a monster mash blizzard of record collector´s Powerpop wet dreams shaking some punked up Teenage Treats action with the cream of the Gin Tonic intoxicated Mod Revival crop,  but also the appropriate style and attitude reflecting this music they play. A definite treasure that cannot be valued highly enough in times of bands really daring to wear tracksuits on stage !

Backstreet Fever Vol. 4 – Jukebox Junkies & Heartbreakers
Vibrator Buzz Compilation Series

The waiting has come to an end, the crying is over, the kleenex can be put back into the kitchen cupboard as here is the next volume of your beloved Backstreet Fever Compilation Series, this time ramped up to a total of 25 tracks as a reparation for your painful waiting period that only took a “little bit” longer than the promised week it should have.
This time the ramrod race is starting and finishing with some high quality football chantery prasing the undeniable qualities of both the Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United. Sorry for the other lads and firms, still searching for a proper Macclesfield tune by the way. Apart from that I´ve included TASTY and SHORTY for you and your wife respectively husband to cuddle, kiss and pet to. Come on, everybody needs a bit of lovin´, even the scarfaced Bootboy Service Crew. Don´t worry though, with WELLINGTON, BRITANIA, BLACKFOOT SUE, SHARATON, BLACK FIRE and WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE there´s still plenty of tunes to clap your hands to and stamp through the ballroom. As well there´s a bigger part of what you might call Proto-Punk featured this time.
Up next, as bound to tradition, will be the follow up volume of the Power Pop and Punk series this time focussing on the latter part.
As well there´s a New Wave Compilation in the making, a Northern Ireland Punk & Powerpop one, another one about the french Punk, Powerpop & New Wave Scene and one with a special focus on Pubrock & Bartender Boogie.
That´s it ? Of course not, there´s plenty of great music to dedicate to.
You´d like to hear some early Hard Rock / NWOBHM ? Maybe some Mod stuff ?
Suggestions welcome at any time, just let me know and I´ll try to work something out !
Now head down below that damn line again and get infected with the Backstreet Fever…

Review: NERVE BUTTON – s/t LP

NERVE BUTTON
s/t LP
Wanda Records

Filthy jokes rolled up in a greasy bacon rind of magnificent FORGOTTEN REBELS bad taste and ambiguous TEENAGE HEAD sidenotes about genitals served with Junkshop handclaps from the local pawnbroker and a droned out copy of the REAL KIDS Debut LP at side.
If those guys are talking about a trip to the rig there´s no job related training event to be planned but an alcoholically indicated intoxication instead leading to an impressive sexual accident with the not necessarily attractive neighborhood milf.

Review: THE PISSED ONES – Piss In Your Pocket LP

THE PISSED ONES
Piss In Your Pocket LP
Eat The Rat Records

I can’t quite put my finger on what exactly makes this band so different from countless like-minded acts of the ’77 revival imprint. All I know for sure is that you’d get hooked instantly within the first 20 seconds of the album, with the powerfully simple Wilko Jonson’esque riff of „Don’t You Get it“ blasting through the speakers. Having said this, it shouldn’t take you by surprise that THE PISSED ONES in my book are definitely making it onto the short list of the best contemporary bands outta Germany, if not certainly pulling ahead to the top of that list. Recently, this Dresden based outfit has just released their second release, „Piss In Your Pocket“, succeeding last year’s tape debut „All Pissed Up“, and now, with a proper LP under their belt, THE PISSED ONES once again successfully enter the rough-edged terrain of the late 70s UK punk explosion and deliver this sound in full effect.
